Tax raps filed vs 2 Chinese

Eva Visperas - The Philippine Star

VILLASIS, Pangasinan, Philippines — The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has filed charges against two Chinese nationals in connection with the fake tax stamps and cigarette labels recovered during a raid in a warehouse here.

The BIR said Lian Jun Cheng and Cai Xiao Ming violated the National Internal Revenue Code.

Town police chief Maj. Fernando Fernandez Jr. said the Provincial Prosecutors Office dismissed the complaint filed against warehouse workers Bernard Dagpin, Edwin Caga-anan, Gino Amparo, Benjie Terez and Juancho Rey Albestor.

The raid was based on an order issued by Mayor Nonato Abrenica for the conduct of quarterly compliance monitoring and inspection of commercial and industrial establishments.

Police raided the warehouse of the Three W. Carton Trading Corp. located in Barangay Bacag following reports that illegal activities were happening in the area.

Aside from the fake cigarette labels and tax stamps, authorities found a printing machine worth P300 million in the warehouse.
