LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines — Pangasinan Gov. Amado Espino issued an executive order on Friday reiterating a ban in the entry of live pigs and pork meat from Rizal and Bulacan amid the African swine fever scare.

Espino cited an administrative order issued by the Bureau of Animal Industry on Aug. 20 for local chief executives to impose food safety measures and quarantine for local veterinary and agricultural products.

In Ilocos Sur, a truck, which contained 45 kilos of unprocessed pork meat from Tondo, Manila, was intercepted at a checkpoint in Barangay Bio, Tagudin on Friday.

The truck driver, Christopher Rabadia, 36, was invited for questioning.– Raymund Catindig
