TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Philippines — A barangay captain was killed in an ambush in Sto. Tomas, Isabela on Wednesday.

The fatality was identified as Manuel Ramento, 40, of Barangay Bagabag.

Ramento was in a van driven by barangay kagawad Glenn Padre, with Noeimi Gumtang, 26, and her six-year-old daughter Althea when they were waylaid, Capt. Mariano Manalo, Sto.Tomas police chief, said.

Padre, Gumtang and Althea were seriously wounded and brought to the Milagros District Hospital for treatment. Padre was later transferred to the Cagayan Valley Medical Center..
