MANILA, Philippines — Two Chinese men were arrested yesterday by police for alleged illegal detention of their compatriot in a hotel in Pasay City.

Yinhua Gong, 41, and Shuchun Liu, 29, were nabbed at the Courtyard Hotel along Roxas Boulevard.

Police said they rescued 31-year-old Renhu Quin during the operation.

The suspects’ arrest came after Renhu’s girlfriend Raquel Medavillo and another Chinese, Mingcheng Cui, sought police assistance.

Medavillo told police that three suspects detained Renhu after he failed to pay his P200,000 debt.

The suspects are being held by police on charges of illegal detention.

Police have launched a manhunt for the third suspect, who remains at large.
