Skyway Stage 3’s Buendia-Plaza Dilao segment opens

MANILA, Philippines — The segment of Skyway from Buendia in Makati City to Plaza Dilao in Paco, Manila is now open, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said yesterday.

The partial opening of the 3.7-kilometer elevated Stage 3 Section 1 of the Skyway project would help ease the traffic bottleneck in the Buendia area, DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said.

At present, only one lane in each direction of Skyway Stage 3 Section 1 would be open to motorists. 

Motorists passing through this segment should maintain a maximum speed of 40 kilometers per hour along the main viaduct and 20 kph when using the ramps.

Villar said Sections 1 and 3 of the Skyway project is more than 80 percent complete.

“Section 1 from Buendia Avenue, Makati City to Quirino Avenue in Nagtahan, Manila is now 83 percent completed, while Section 3 from Ramon Magsaysay Avenue to Balintawak is 81 percent completed,” he said.

Villar said the other sections are being fasttracked to ensure that the Skyway Stage 3 would be completed by March next year.

The Skyway Stage 3 is an 18.68-kilometer elevated expressway that stretches from Buendia in Makati City to Balintawak, Quezon City.

Once completed, it is expected to reduce travel time from Makati City to Balintawak, Quezon City from the current two hours to just 20 minutes.
