GSIS hires relatives of SAF 44
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — The family members of five of the 44 police Special Action Forces (SAF) commandos killed by Muslim rebels in Mamasapano, Maguindanao four years ago are now employees of the Government Service Insurance System.
GSIS chairman and president Rolly Macasaet said the widows and a sister of the SAF commandos were hired at the GSIS office in Zamboanga. He said the widow of another SAF commando would be employed at the GSIS office in Baguio City.
Macasaet said the GSIS also extended livelihood assistance to the widows and family members of the SAF 44.
He said the GSIS paid the funeral benefits of the police officers and released the initial pension benefits of their survivors barely a month after the incident.
