Over 5,000 ordinance violators, drug suspects nabbed

MANILA, Philippines — In a bid to clean up the streets for today’s fourth State of the Nation Address of President Duterte, the Quezon City Police District rounded up at least 5,000 ordinance violators and 107 drug suspects in the past two days. 

The city police conducted simultaneous anti-crime and law enforcement operations, which resulted in the arrest of 63 wanted persons and killing of six robbery suspects.

Authorities said a total of 42 anti-narcotics operations were conducted that led to the seizure of P338,844 worth of shabu and P12,973 worth of marijuana. 

Thirty-three more drug suspects were apprehended by police yesterday.

In Barangay Gulod, two persons were arrested for alleged possession of 54 sachets of shabu along San Ignacio street.

Alex Rivera and Emelda Villosa, both aged 62, allegedly yielded P102,800 worth of shabu.

In Barangay Sto. Cristo, Mark Anthony Garcia, 21, and Jhon Roper Austria were collared in a drug sting.

Police said they recovered at least half a kilo of marijuana worth P180,000 from the suspects.

The other drug suspects were collared in Barangays Pasong Putik, Manresa, Culiat and Payatas.               

In Taguig City, police confiscated at least P200,000 worth of shabu from two suspected drug pushers.

Maribel Cornillez and Wilson Oroso were nabbed in a sting in Barangay South Daang Hari.

Police said Cornillez and Oroso were on the drug watchlist. – Ghio Ong
