1 dead as truck rams jeepney

MANILA, Philippines — A woman died when a six-wheeler truck hit a public utility jeepney in Quezon City yesterday morning.

Jocelyn Flores, 35, died at the scene when she was thrown from the jeepney and pinned underneath the vehicle when it turned over at the intersection of Timog Avenue and Scout Tobias street at around 7:20 a.m.

Probers said Angel Fabrero, 53, was driving the jeepney along Timog Avenue when it figured in a collision with a truck driven by Alfredo Gallosa, 41, who was coming from Scout Tobias.

At least seven other passengers of the jeepney were brought to East Avenue Medical Center.

Both Fabrero and Gallosa are under custody of the Quezon City Police District’s Traffic Enforcement Unit Sector 4 and may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple injuries.
