MANILA, Philippines — A driver of a Ford Ranger pick-up truck was injured when the vehicle lost its brakes and fell from the second floor parking lot of a hotel in Ortigas, Pasig City yesterday.

Rocky Pagaragan Yabut, 30, was taken to the Rizal Medical Center for treatment after he fractured his arm and leg, according to Eastern Police District director Brig. Gen. Nolasco Bathan.

Bathan said Yabut came from the condominium unit of his employer on the third floor of the Malayan Plaza Hotel along Topaz Road in Barangay San Antonio.

Probers said Yabut was in a gray Ford Ranger (NBI-8838) and negotiating a curve toward the second floor when the vehicle lost its brakes at around 11:25 a.m.

Police said the vehicle hit the metal fence before plunging into the ground floor car entrance of the hotel.

The vehicle was a total wreck, police said.
