POEA warns teachers vs ?illegal recruitment in Japan

Mayen Jaymalin - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has warned Filipino teachers aspiring to work in Japan about illegal recruiters.

According to the POEA, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Japan reported that the Heart English School in Japan has been recruiting Filipino teachers.

The school has no authority from the agency to recruit Filipino teachers and other workers, the POEA said.

“The report said a Filipino contact has been facilitating the travel of teachers as tourists. Once they arrive in Japan, the student visas are converted to working visas,” the POEA said.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello said the Philippine government has yet to start the deployment of skilled Filipino workers to Japan.
