Surigao LTO enforcer slain, 2 hurt in shooting

MANILA, Philippines — An enforcer of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) was killed while two others were wounded in a gun attack in Surigao City yesterday.

Brig. Gen. Gilbert Cruz, Caraga police director, said Felixberto Loayon died at the scene.

Rene Sinangute and Frede Frediewabina were wounded and brought to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

The victims were in a vehicle on their way to the town proper when they were waylaid in Barangay Ipil at around 8:10 a.m.

Cruz said the attack could be work-related. He said the victims are enforcers of the LTO’s campaign against colorum vehicles.
