Aftershock jolts North Cotabato anew
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 3 earthquake, another aftershock of the magnitude 5.6 quake that occurred on July 9, hit Makilala, North Cotabato yesterday.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the epicenter of the tremor, which occurred at around 12:54 a.m., was traced 15 kilometers southwest of Makilala.
The quake was felt at Intensity 3 in Kidapawan City.
A magnitude 4.1 earthquake, also an aftershock of the July 9 quake, hit Makilala on Monday.
Last week, an aftershock with a magnitude of 4.9 struck 16 kilometers southwest of Makilala.
Phivolcs and the Office of Civil Defense in Caraga appealed to residents to stay away from their damaged houses.
