LTFRB eyes explanation from 2 bus firms

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) yesterday said it plans to issue show cause orders (SCOs) against two bus companies after their units figured in separate accidents on Thursday.

In a statement, the LTFRB said Philippine Rabbit Bus Lines Inc. and AC Trans may be ordered to explain why their respective franchises should not be suspended or revoked.

“A formal complaint concerning the two accidents may also prompt the issuance of an SCO,” the regulatory body said.

Five people were hurt when a Philippine Rabbit bus overshot the railings of a bridge at the North Luzon Expressway in San Fernando City, Pampanga and landed on a private vehicle.

An AC Trans bus caught fire along EDSA’s southbound lane in Quezon City.

Both accidents are being investigated by authorities, the LTFRB said.
