Soldier shot dead in motel

CATBALOGAN CITY, Philippines — An Army soldier was allegedly killed by his girlfriend in a motel in this city on Sunday.

Employees of the motel found the body of Pfc. Carmelo Batoctoy Jr., 33, of the 8th Infantry Division when they rushed to his room upon hearing a gunshot.

Initial investigation showed that Batoctoy allegedly aimed his gun at Shiela de la Cruz, 18,  when she refused to have sex with him for the third time, triggering a scuffle for possession of the firearm.

Batoctoy was hit in the mouth and died at the scene.

De la Cruz was arrested.
