MANILA, Philippines — At least 160 families lost their homes when a fire broke out in Barangay Bahay Toro, Quezon City yesterday morning.

The fire, caused by a kerosene gas stove, started at a three-story house in Pangasinan Compound along Interior General Avenue at around 9:46 a.m.

The owner of the house, Josepin Enfectana, suffered second-degree burns. She was the only one reported injured in the fire, which reached third alarm and destroyed 40 shanties before it was put out at past 11 a.m.

Probers pegged the estimated damage at around P200,000.
