Cop, 2 drug suspects slain in Rizal shootout

MANILA, Philippines — A police officer and two drug suspects were killed in a shootout in Rodriguez, Rizal yesterday.

Lt. Col. Chitadel Gaoiran, spokesperson for the Calabarzon police, identified the slain police officer as Senior M/Sgt. Conrado Cabigao.

Gaoiran said Renato Dolorfina and his unidentified cohort shot it out with Cabigao, who posed as a buyer of shabu in a sting in Barangay San Jose at around 7:40 a.m.

Dolorfina reportedly even used his child as a human shield.

The drug suspects died at the scene. Cabigao, who was hit in the neck, died while being treated in a hospital.

Dolorfino’s child was also wounded and remains confined in a hospital.
