LPA spotted off Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is monitoring a low-pressure area.

PAGASA weather specialist Gener Quitlong said the LPA, which is still outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), was located 1,225 kilometers east of Mindanao yesterday.

Quitlong said the weather system is not expected to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours.

The low-pressure area is expected to enter  PAR either today or tomorrow.

The state weather bureau said the southwest monsoon is affecting Luzon and the Visayas.

“Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro and Palawan will have rains due to the southwest monsoon,” the state weather bureau said.

It said Ilocos,  the Visayas, the rest of Central Luzon, Mimaropa and Calabarzon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorm.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms.
