MANILA, Philippines — An official of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) was arrested in Basilan yesterday for possession of bomb materials.

Maj. Gen. Amador Corpus, director of the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), identified the suspect as Muida Hataman, director of the TESDA office in Basilan.

Hataman, allegedly a wife of Abu Sayyaf sub-leader Radzzmil Janatur, was arrested during a raid on a house in Barangay San Rafael, Isabela City.

An electric blasting cap, a 9-volt battery, a 40mm mortar round and a projectile were among those allegedly recovered from the suspect.

Police also confiscated a handheld radio, four cellular phones, two laptops and a sling bag.

Philippine National Police spokesman Col. Bernard Banac said Hataman denied allegations of involvement with the Abu Sayyaf, saying she was at the house to visit a friend.

Maj. Helen Galvez, Zamboanga peninsula police spokesperson, said Hataman’s arrest was in line with Oplan Paglalansag Omega and Oplan Salikop.
