13 hurt as passenger jeepney crashes

MANILA, Philippines — At least 13 persons were injured when a passenger jeepney hit a fence after avoiding a car in Marikina City on Wednesday night.

Jeepney driver Wawi Gerbacio, 21, escaped after the accident. Police have launched a manhunt for his arrest.

The victims were brought to the nearby hospital for treatment.

Reports said an Isuzu jeepney (TWG 497) driven by Gerbacio was traversing Barangay Molina at high speed when he saw an incoming car.

Gerbacio avoided the vehicle, but he crashed into the fence of a house in Barangay Parang at around 11:15 p.m.

The passengers suffered injuries due to the crash.
