Grab driver assaulted by passenger

MANILA, Philippines — A driver of ridesharing firm Grab was assaulted by his passenger in Quezon City on Monday night.

Police said John Kevin Garcia was hurt after the suspect, 22-year-old Gabriel Tagnipez, kicked him.

The incident happened near a bus terminal along  EDSA in Barangay Kamuning at around 9:30 p.m.

A report from the Kamuning police station said a drunk Tagnipez, along with his three companions, boarded Garcia’s car along Timog Avenue.

Police said the suspect became unruly. His companions tried to pacify him, but he turned violent and challenged Garcia to a fistfight.

The suspect also destroyed the two mini fans in the car.
