6 die in road mishaps in Luzon, Visayas

MANILA, Philippines — Six persons died in separate vehicular accidents that occurred in different parts of the country over the weekend.

Vladimir Galvez and his passenger, Ryan Haropohop, died when their motorcycle slammed into a truck in Antipolo City yesterday.

The victims were on their way to Boso-Boso when they figured in the accident in Barangay San Jose shortly after midnight, according to Lt. Col. Villaflor Bannawagan, city police chief.

Truck driver Charlie Pating was arrested after the incident.

In Ilocos Sur, Eric Tabali, 29, was declared dead on arrival in a hospital after his motorcycle collided with a sport utility vehicle (SUV) in San Ildefonso town on Saturday.

Tabali reportedly tried to overtake, causing him to hit the SUV in Barangay Poblacion East.

The driver of the SUV, identified as Celeste Pajaro, 22, surrendered to responding police officers.

Meanwhile, Jefferson Lasam, 29, was traveling in Reina Mercedes, Isabela when his motorcycle hit a Toyota Fortuner.

Lasam died while being treated in a nearby hospital.

Police are hunting the driver of the SUV that hit Lasam.

On the same day, two public school teachers died after they were hit by a car in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.

Joe Marie Osano, 45, and his wife Alnie Dina, 36, died while being treated for head and body injuries in a hospital.

The car, driven by June Paul Valencia, sped away but it was pursued and cornered by another motorist several meters away from the scene of the accident.

Valencia was taken to the Mandurriao police station for questioning. – Raymund Catindig, Jennifer Rendon
