LTO open for license? renewal on Saturdays

MANILA, Philippines — Starting next week, motorists can renew their license at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) even on Saturdays.

Memorandum Circular 2019-2167, recently signed by LTO chief Edgar Galvante, required its driver’s license renewal offices (DLROs) located in malls to operate and process applications for driver’s license renewal and issue student permits.

DLROs were ordered to coordinate with the respective mall or commercial center managers for the operating hours.

LTO executive director Romeo Vera Cruz said this is to accommodate applicants who have to work on weekdays.

Renewal offices in the provinces cater to about 80 clients per day while those in highly urbanized areas see a maximum of 200 clients per day, Vera Cruz said.
