John Unson - The Philippine Star

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines — Police and military personnel have dismantled a gun repair shop of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in this province.

Maj. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division said the shop in Barangay Midconding, General Salipada Pendatun was also used to make improvised explosive devices.

Sobejana said gun parts, gunsmith tools and various type of ammunition were recovered at the scene.

He said the operation was also aimed at arresting the operator of the gun shop, Sukarno Buka, who is wanted for heinous crimes, but he managed to escape.

Also in Maguindanao, bomb experts deactivated an improvised bomb found along the Cotabato-Isulan Highway in Shariff Aguak on Tuesday.

Col. Ronald Briones, Maguindanao police director, said the bomb was believed planted by BIFF men.
