Boy, 4, dies in Iloilo City fire

ILOILO CITY, Philippines — A four-year-old boy died in a fire that hit a residential area in Barangay Rizal, Lapuz district in this city on Tuesday night.

The victim, identified only as Toto, his parents and siblings went out of their house after being awakened when the fire struck. However, the boy was reportedly trapped when he decided to return to their house to get his dog.

Senior Fire Officer 1 Edison Gimotea said the fire, which broke out at around 8:56 p.m. was declared out at about 10:29 p.m.

Gimotea said an unattended candle could be the cause of the fire.
