Woman drowns after jumping off ferry

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines — A woman drowned after she jumped off a roll-on roll-off ferry in the waters off Pintuyan Island in  Southern Leyte on Friday.

A report of the Philippine Coast Guard in Surigao identified the woman as Joana Eviota, 31, a resident of Barangay Sta. Monica on Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte.

MV Fast Cat M7 captain Jemuel Arsibal said prior to the incident, the woman was seen talking on her mobile phone and looking depressed.
