List of ‘fake’ vinegar out next week — FDA
MANILA, Philippines — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is set to release next week the list of “fake” vinegar products with acetic acid.
“We will have a list by next week,” FDA officer-in-charge Eric Domingo said yesterday. “Testing is still ongoing at the FDA.”
The Department of Agriculture has called for the release of the list of fake vinegar products available in the market to ensure the protection of consumers.
A study done by the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute-Department of Science and Technology showed that eight out of 10 vinegar products in the market are not made from natural sources.
Earlier, the FDA said there is no indication that synthetic acetic acid is harmful to health.
