3,000 cops to secure school opening in Central Luzon

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines — Three thousand police oficers will be deployed in all schools in Central Luzon to secure the opening of classes on June 3, the regional police office said yesterday.

Lt. Col. Fe Grenas, information officer of the Central Luzon police, said police assistance desks will be put up in schools to respond to queries from students and parents.

“We are also coordinating with local chief executives for the management of traffic as many students are expected to be on the road on this day,” Grenas said.

She said they would strictly monitor air and sea ports as well as bus terminals to avoid any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the region launched the Bata Balik-Eskwela Campaign in time for the opening of classes.

“The campaign aims to encourage school-aged children to attend classes,” Tomasa Lirio, coordinator of the DSWD-Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, said.
