Quakes jolt Ilocos, Bicol, Eastern Samar

MANILA, Philippines — Earthquakes shook parts of Luzon and the Visayas yesterday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported.

Phivolcs said a magnitude 4.5 quake occurred at around 2:20 p.m., with its epicenter located 31 kilometers northwest of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte. It was felt at Intensity 4 or moderately strong in Pagudpud and Intensity 3 in Bangui, Burgos and Pasuquin, all in Ilocos Norte.

A magnitude 4.4 quake occurred at around 6:45 a.m. in Masbate. The epicenter of the quake was traced four kilometers northeast of Pio V. Corpus town. It was felt at Intensity 3 in Pio V. Corpuz and Intensity 2 in Placer also in Masbate.
