Mayen Jaymalin - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Another political neophyte is set to assume as representative of the second district of Rizal.

Results of the Commission on Elections tally showed that lawyer Juan Fidel Felipe Nograles obtained a total of 56,579 votes against his closest rival Maridee Rodriguez, who got a total of 56,490.

Nograles, who ran under PDP-Laban, got 48.85 percent of the total votes cast.

His opponent is the wife of the incumbent congressman, Isidro Rodriguez Jr.

Nograles is the nephew of former speaker Prospero Nograles.

He had earlier  expressed his desire to help the less privileged instead of pursuing a career in big law firms in the country.

Nograles was former Rizal assistant provincial administrator. He also provides free legal assistance to the poor.
