LUBAO, Pampanga, Philippines — It took only six minutes for outgoing Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to cast her vote at the San Nicolas Elementary School in this town. 

The former president was number 74 on  the voters’ list posted at the entrance of Precinct 001A.

Arroyo arrived with her husband Miguel at around 10:30 a.m. Her eldest son Juan Miguel, who ran for the post she would vacate, and his wife Angela also cast their votes at the school.

The former president, who is on her third term as representative of the second district of Pampanga, said she would continue to serve her cabalens as consultant to the provincial government.

Arroyo said she also plans to write her memoir.

Arroyo is a known ally of Pampanga Gov. Lilia Pineda, who is also on her third term.

Pineda’s son Dennis, the incumbent vice governor, is among the four candidates for governor of the province. – Delon Porcalla
