Alfredo Lim denies supporting Isko Moreno

MANILA, Philippines — The camp of Manila mayoralty candidate Alfredo Lim denied yesterday a news report saying he would declare his support for Isko Moreno.

Lim described the story, which was reported by an online website as fake news.

Lim and Moreno are both running for mayor. 

The report cited an unnamed source as saying that Lim would declare his support for Moreno.

Lim’s lawyer, Renato de la Cruz, said they would look into the report before filing charges.

De la Cruz said the story was malicious, adding the online news website failed to get a statement from the camp of Lim to verify the report.

“It is a desperate attempt to derail the candidacy of Lim in favor of Moreno,” the lawyer said.

According to De la Cruz, the fake news came from the camp of Moreno in a bid to get more votes.

“This is a clear indication that Lim is headed for victory,” De la Cruz said.

He said Lim would not withdraw from the mayoral race.

On Saturday, Lim held a motorcade in Balut, Tondo where he was welcomed by his supporters.
