6 Chinese, 2 Pinoys held for kidnap
MANILA, Philippines — Police apprehended yesterday six Chinese men for allegedly kidnapping their three compatriots in Las Piñas City.
Lao Xie, Li Wei, Ruan Hu Bin, Chen Ying, Weng Peng Chao and Li Hui Jie were nabbed along with their Filipino cohorts Marvin Villas, 38, and Lolito Angeles, 40, who served as their drivers.
Probers said the victims – Zhou Yang, Ling Seng Xiao and Ou Shen – were walking along Verdant Avenue in Barangay Pamplona on Friday night when a van with license plate AIA-2234 blocked their way.
The suspects reportedly dragged the victims into the vehicle.
Ou, however, managed to escape and reported the kidnapping to authorities.
The suspects reportedly demanded P200,000 in exchange for the release of Zhou and Ling.
The kidnappers arranged for the ransom money to be dropped off at a mall in Ayala, Makati, according to police.
Members of the Makati and Las Piñas police arrested the suspects after allegedly receiving the money from Ou.
The two victims were rescued in the operation.
Charges of kidnapping and extortion will be filed against the suspects, police said.
