Ben Serrano - The Philippine Star

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines — A barangay captain running for mayor of Lingig, Surigao del Sur was arrested for illegal possession of firearms at his residence in Barangay Poblacion on Thursday.

Police said Edgar Agdoc of Barangay Tagpupuran yielded a rifle, a KG9 pistol, a caliber .40 pistol and various types of magazine and ammunition during a raid on his house.

Agdoc is running for mayor under the Hugpong ng Pagbabago party.

His arrest came shortly after Mayor Roberto Luna Jr., who is seeking reelection, was arrested for illegal possession of unlicensed guns and illegal drugs.
