MANILA, Philippines — A Taiwanese man wanted in his country for fraud was arrested by immigration officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) when he allegedly tried to pose as a Filipino as he was about to leave for Cambodia, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said yesterday.

Huang Chung-Chia, 33, allegedly tried to leave the country on May 3 using a tampered Philippine passport under the name Louis Go Lu, according to BI Port Operations Division chief Grifton Medina’s report to BI Commissioner Jaime Morente.

Officials said Huang bought the fake passport, tax identification number and voter’s identification cards for P130,000.

Huang has a pending deportation case stemming from a request from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office sasking the BI to help locate and deport him.

According to Taiwanese authorities, Huang is wanted for fraud by the Taichung district prosecutor’s office.

The BI said Huang arrived in the country as a tourist on June 2, 2018. – Rudy Santos
