Alleged hitman, pusher killed

MANILA, Philippines — A suspected contract killer and a drug pusher were killed in an alleged encounter with police officers during simultaneous anti-crime operations in Baseco Compound at Port Area, Manila on Saturday.

M/Sgt. Joseph Kabigting, Manila Police District homicide investigator, said officers of MPD Station 5’s anti-drug unit were conducting operations near the Sto. Niño de Baseco parish and Corazon Aquino Health Center when they spotted Jeffrey Commendador, 26, who was included in the station’s drug watchlist, and a certain “Dodong,” who was tagged as a hired gun.

The two men reportedly shot it out with the police officers who tried to accost them.

Police recovered a shotgun and a .38 caliber revolver from the suspects.
