Nigerian slain, 7 held in NBI operation vs scammers
MANILA, Philippines — A Nigerian citizen tagged in an online love scam and seven of his cohorts were arrested in a law enforcement operation in Imus, Cavite on Thursday.
Authorities said Orisakwe Ifeanyi was shot dead when he drew his gun as personnel of National Bureau of Investgation’s (NBI) cybercrime division and local police raided the hideout of the suspects in Barangay Buhay na Tubig.
NBI deputy director Ferdinand Lavin identified those arrested as Emmanuel Ikenna, Dickson Okalla, Chukwuma George Adible, Chiboy Stanley Agbasy, Dim Remedios, Abas Kashimer and Uba Living.
Police said laptops, mobile phones, skimming devices and other gadgets as well as ATM and credit cards, a gun and a hand grenade were recovered from the suspects.
Lavin said the suspects ask money for bogus investments from women they seek on social media as love interests.
