Manila village chief’s sister gunned down
MANILA, Philippines — The sister of a barangay chairman in Manila was shot dead on Wednesday afternoon.
Annabelle Brinas, 46, an insurance agent, was talking with her cook in front of her house on Elcano street in Binondo when a man on a motorcycle shot her at around 4:39 p.m.
She died while being treated at the Abad Santos General Hospital.
Lt. Glenzor Vallejo of the Manila Police District’s homicide section said Brinas’ brother is Barangay 282 chairman Steven Yap.
He said no one, not even the victim’s family, would talk to police investigators.
“Maybe they are still in shock or maybe they just don’t want to talk, which makes it hard for us,” Vallejo said, adding that they are checking surveillance cameras in the area.
