Drug den ‘watcher’ slain in raid

MANILA, Philippines — A man who allegedly served as a watcher for an drug den was killed during a police raid that led to the seizure of P1.2 million worth of illegal drugs in Quezon City on Friday. 

The man, identified only as Bilao, reportedly shot it out with police officers implementing a search warrant at a house along Kabuhayan street in Barangay Gulod at around 4:10 p.m., said Lt. Col. Rossel Cejas, Novaliches police station commander.

The subjects of the warrant – Waida Silongan, 42, and Baimen Sarip, 21 – were arrested along with nine others, including two minors.

Police seized 150 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu with a street value of P1 million, and two kilos of marijuana worth P240,000, a .38 caliber revolver and bullets at the drug den.
