1 dead, 6 hurt in Las Piñas crash
MANILA, Philippines — A fish vendor was killed while six others were injured when a car hit her and a tricycle she was about to board, two bicycles and two motorcycles in Las Piñas City before dawn Thursday.
Leizel Zanarias Quilicol, 49, was pronounced dead at the Las Piñas Doctor’s Hospital from head and body injuries.
Quilicol was loading her belongings onto the tricycle along Alabang-Zapote Road when a Honda City (PWQ-302), driven by Fe dela Cruz, 65, hit her and the tricycle.
The tricycle turned over while Quilicol was thrown some meters away and slammed into a post. Tricycle driver Dennis Margarico, 37, was also injured.
Dela Cruz’s car also crashed into two motorcycles driven by Cristito Colibao, 29, and Gerry Alvarado, 48; and two bicycles pedaled by construction workers Renato Sumilhig, 31, and Conrado Cotat Awingan, 58.
The victims, including Dela Cruz, were brought to the Perpetual Help Hospital and Las Piñas Doctor’s Hospital.
Dela Cruz faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and physical injuries and simple imprudence resulting in damage to property, police said.
