Bersamin orders inspection of court houses following quake
MANILA, Philippines (Updated 11:05 a.m.) — Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin has ordered the inspection of courthouses where a magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck Monday afternoon.
Bersamin instructed the Office of the Court Administrator to conduct an immediate inspection of all courthouses affected by the earthquake, the Supreme Court Public Information Office said in an advisory late Monday night.
“This is to ensure the structural integrity of courthouses as well as the safety of all judges, court personnel, lawyers and the public,” the SC PIO added.
The quake’s epicenter was located in Castillejos, Zambales, according to the data from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

Bersamin also ordered the suspension of court work in Metro Manila and Central Luzon for Tuesday, April 23, citing the pending inspection of courthouses.

The SC gave the discretion to suspend work in areas outside Metro Manila and Central Luzon to its executive judges.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea has also announced the suspension of work in government offices in the National Capital Region.
