Cop hurt in Maguindanao bomb attack
MAGUINDANAO, Philippines — A police officer was wounded in a bomb attack in Ampatuan town on Sunday night.
Cpl. Aratuc Balabagan and his fellow police officers were returning to their station after checking reports of harassment of a militia detachment in Barangay Kauran when a bomb was set off by suspected members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).
No one among the militiamen was hurt in the gunfight with the suspects.
Brig. Gen. Graciano Mijares of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao said probers are verifying the identities of the BIFF men.
