Quezon City cop kidnapped by armed men

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A Quezon City police officer was reportedly kidnapped by armed men in Marilao, Bulacan on Tuesday.

An initial report said Cpl. Glenn Stuart Manila, assigned with the Batasan police station, was withdrawing money from an ATM booth at a supermarket in Barangay Loma De Gato when two white vans arrived.

Based on closed-circuit television footage obtained by probers, several men alighted from the vehicles and kidnapped Manila at gunpoint.

The vans sped off toward an unknown direction, witnesses told probers.

Police said they recovered Manila’s red motorcycle at the supermarket’s parking lot.

Quezon City police director Brig. Gen. Joselito Esquivel Jr. has ordered an investigation in coordination with the Bulacan police to determine the suspects’ identities and motive behind the kidnapping.

“It was not clear why Manila was in Bulacan when he was supposed to be at his post in Quezon City as the police force in Metro Manila was placed on full alert because of the Lenten break,” Esquivel said.
