Number coding lifted from April 17 to 22
MANILA, Philippines — The number coding traffic reduction scheme will be lifted starting tomorrow until April 22, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced yesterday.
The agency suspended the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program for six days to ensure that there will be enough public utility vehicles to serve commuters during the Holy Week.
“The suspension of the number coding will allow motorists to use their vehicles going to their destinations up to their return to Metro Manila after the Lenten break,” the MMDA said in a statement.
The number coding is automatically lifted on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, which are public holidays.
The MMDA will resume the traffic scheme on April 23.
