Widower gunned down in Tondo

MANILA, Philippines — Police are looking into the involvement of a woman in the killing of a 38-year-old widower who was gunned down in Tondo, Manila on Sunday night.

Rogelio David was on his way home when an unidentified assailant fired at him at the corner of Trinidad Rizal and Velasquez streets at around 7:30 p.m.

Case officer Chief M/Sgt. Roy Magsinu said David had just finished eating at a canteen when he was waylaid.

The victim was rushed to the Tondo Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on arrival from multiple gunshots to the body.

A relative of David told police that the victim had been receiving threats from his girlfriend prior to the killing.

David reportedly told his cousin that he had a confrontation with his girlfriend on April 12, but did not reveal the reason.
