‘STL operators fail to remit P5 B to PCSO’

Rainier Allan Ronda - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office will go after 12 Small Town Lottery (STL) operators for alleged failure to remit to the PCSO P5.2 billion in financial obligations.

Sandra Cam, a member of the PCSO board of directors, vowed to collect the money from the STL operators to increase the agency’s revenue.

She said the PCSO’s revenue from lotto sales went down by 30 percent in the first quarter of the year.

“Actually, we have a P5.2-billion revenue shortfall from STL operators,” Cam told reporters earlier this week.

Cam said a majority of the STL operators with unpaid remittances to the government supposedly have links with former PCSO general manager Alexander Balutan.

She said among the erring STL operators are Propitious Corp., which owes the charity agency P700 million, and Charity Games, with P600 million unpaid remittance.
