Fireman hurt, P6.1-million property destroyed in Cagayan de Oro fires

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines  —  A fire officer was injured while P6.1 million worth of property were destroyed in fires that hit this city on Wednesday.

Senior Fire Officer 3 Samson Velarde was injured when they responded to a fire that struck a commercial district in Barangay Carmen at past noon, Superintendent Allan Cabot, district fire marshal, said.

A fire of still undetermined origin also gutted a warehouse in Barangay Puntod.

Prior to the incident, residents said they heard an explosion.
