Bus hits tricycle in La Union; 3 dead

ARINGAY, La Union, Philippines — A tricycle driver and his two passengers died when their vehicle collided with a bus along the highway in Barangay San Eugenio in this town yesterday.

Maj. Daniel Banan, town police chief, said Jaymar Boado and security guards Ramil Parocha and Romalyn Mercado suffered head injuries and were declared dead on arrival at the La Union Medical Center.

Jomar Torayno, 30, and Marvin Canalita, 17, died when their motorcycle was hit by a sport utility vehicle along the highway in Barangay Mabuhay, Bayugan, Agusan del Sur on Monday night.

Also killed in a road accident was Reginaldo Manolong, 23, whose motorcycle rammed a mango tree in Barangay Minien West, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan.

 Bernardo Miguel, 75, died when his tricycle was hit by a van in Barangay Bugallon Proper, Ramon, Isabela also on Monday.

The tricycle driver, Anselmo Balao, 74, and passenger Antonio Lucena, 70, were injured and brought to a hospital for treatment. – Raymund Catindig, Eva Visperas, Ben Serrano
