PUV drivers undergo drug test
MANILA, Philippines — Around 60 drivers of public utility vehicles (PUVs) underwent mandatory drug testing at a transport terminal in Pasay City yesterday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.
PDEA chief Aaron Aquino said the drug test was part of “Oplan Harabas: Drug test muna bago pasada” to ensure the safety of commuters from drivers abusing drugs.
Aquino said 16 drivers have tested positive for drugs.
He said the urine samples taken from the drivers would still be subjected to a confirmatory test.
The Land Transportation Office and members of Pasay City police assisted the PDEA during the drug testing, which was conducted in 49 other terminals nationwide.
