MANILA, Philippines — Japan donated yesterday 22 emergency vehicles to the Bureau of Fire Protection to upgrade the BFP’s capabilities.
The turnover of 14 ambulances, six pumpers and two rescue trucks was held at the BFP main office in Quezon City.
Present during the turnover ceremony were Japanese Ambassador Koji Haneda and Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año.
Kaneda said Filipino firefighters are Japan’s close allies.
The BFP said the vehicles would be distributed to 13 towns and cities in Luzon.
The Japanese government has donated 76 emergency vehicles to the Philippines since 2014.
