MANILA, Philippines — At least 34 passengers were injured when the bus they were riding fell on its side after being hit by a trailer truck in Malate, Manila on Tuesday night.

Traffic investigators said the Kersteen bus was bound for Cavite when it was rammed from behind by a 10-wheeler truck at the corner of San Marcelino and Remedios streets at around 9:45 p.m.

Due to the impact, bus driver Joseph Mojica and the passengers suffered injuries. They were taken to the nearest hospitals for treatment.

The truck driver, Noli Mendoza, surrendered to police after the accident. Charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries will be filed against him before the Manila prosecutor’s office.

The accident snarled traffic in the area before the bus was removed from the site early yesterday morning.
